ISTANBUL - Turkish-Swedish labour unions education meeting organized by Turkish trade unions DISK, Hak-Is, KESK and Swedish Workers' Confederation (LO) started in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Addressing the opening of the meeting, Salim Uslu, the Chairman of the Moral Rights Labour Union (Hak-Is) said that the trade union understanding in Turkey should be based on realism and information.
Uslu said that Swedish trade union movement had significant experience and it had important status in the world in respect of contributing to the prosperity level in the society. Uslu noted that there were many things which Turkish labour union could learn from the Swedish trade movement. Uslu added that education seminars should be made more systematic.
Suleyman Celebi, the Chairman of Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Unions (DISK) said in his part that the trade movements of Turkey and Sweden were similar to each other although Sweden was a country which was far away to Turkey.
Sami Evren, the Chairman of Confederation of Public Workers Trade Unions (KESK) pointed out to the importance of solidarity among labour unions.
The meeting in which representatives of Turkish and Swedish labour unions participate will end on Wednesday.
