LISBON - Participants at the 28th Meeting of European Ministers of Family Affairs sponsored by the Council of Europe in Lisbon, Portugal, have declared that the beating of children must be ended, even those beatings that are done by educators.
''The beating of children is a problem in Turkey just as it is in many other countries. Families must be educated to prevent the beating of children. One of the rights of children is to live without facing or experiencing violence,'' told Turkish State Minister Nimet Cubukcu today in Lisbon.
The Lisbon meeting ended today.
Cubukcu is expected to return to Turkey on Thursday.
