ANKARA - Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer strongly condemned the armed attack in the Council of State on Wednesday.
''Those who attack the values and institutions of the Republic, which is the guarantee of independent, free and modern Turkish nation, will always fail,'' Sezer stressed.
Sezer wished quick recovery for the five judges who were injured in the armed attack.
The attack occurred in the Council of State Chamber 2 during a committee meeting. The gunman, who was identified as lawyer Aslan Alpaslan from the Istanbul Bar, was detained and taken to the Anti-Terror Department for interrogation.
