ANKARA - Monitoring the developments regarding Iran's nuclear program, Turkey maintains contacts for solution of the problem through dialogue.
Within this scope, Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul spoke to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier by phone last week.
Recent developments on Iran's nuclear program were assessed during the those telephone conversations. Gul also gave information about the talks carried out with the Iranian executives and once again explained Turkey's stance toward the issue.
Turkey, feeling uneasiness over the crisis between Iran and international community, wants to contribute to the solution of the problem through peaceful means.
Ankara does not want another crisis in the region and favors solution of the problem through talks and diplomatic ways.
Ankara wants Iran (who signed Non-Proliferation Treaty-NPT) to fulfill its commitments and maintain its nuclear activities openly and transparently.
On every opportunity, Ankara conveys messages of the international community to Tehran administration.
Ankara admits that Iran has the right to take advantage of nuclear energy for peaceful means, yet opposes to nuclear armament of the region.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that Gul talked to Iran's national security chief Ali Larijani on the phone and assessed the issue.
