LEFKOSA - TRNC President Rauf Denktas submitted on Monday the application of 18 Greek Cypriot citizens to Commission of Compensation which was formed by TRNC to solve the problem of property in Cyprus regarding the application of Greek Cypriots.
Denktas visited the commission and he gave the application files of 18 Greek Cypriots to Chairman of the Commission Salih Dayioglu.
Underlining the fact that the names of the applicants would not be announced due to the attitude of the Greek Cypriot side, Denktas said that if applicants would not like the decision of the commission, they could apply to the European Court of Human Rights.
Denktas noted that ''the number of applications which was 15 in the morning increased to 18 now,'' adding that potential applications would be informed soon about methods of applying to the commission and the documents that were necessary.''
Calling on the Greek Cypriot side, Denktas said that Greek Cypriot administration should not impede those Greek Cypriot citizens to apply to the commission which didn't have any political connection.
''If the right to property is sacred, defending that right should also be sacred and this should not be impeded. Particularly no artificial impediments should be put forward due to political reasons,'' said Denktas.
Recalling that TRNC people could also apply to Greek Cypriot courts for their properties in South Cyprus and for their other rights, Denktas said ''if they don't like the decision of the court, the way to apply to the European Court of Human Rights is open.''
Denktas called Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos once again to make an agreement similar to the frame agreement on customs union signed between TRNC and Turkey and to discuss economic issues.
