EDIRNE - Gendarmerie teams captured 108 foreigners who were trying to flee to abroad illegally in their operations in northwestern province of Edirne in last two days.
Sources said on Monday that at the check-point in Yenimuhacir hamlet in Kesan town, Gendarmerie teams stopped a lorry and captured 55 Pakistanis, 7 Bangladeshis and 7 Indians who were trying to pass to Greece. Officials also detained the Turkish driver of the lorry.
Meanwhile, during their operations in Ipsala and Meric towns, Gendarmerie teams intercepted 39 foreigners of Pakistani, Georgian, Russian, Moroccan and Algerian origin.
Officials said those foreigners were trying to flee to European countries via Greece.
Officials added foreigners would be deported.
