ISTANBUL - The Foreign Capital Association (YASED) will launched an initiative to increase foreign investments in Turkey.
YASED Chairman Saban Erdikler told the A.A correspondent on Monday, ''the amount of foreign investment increased 21 percent to 1.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of 2003. However, it is too early to say that a series of laws were enacted, Turkey has done many positive things and foreign investors have begun preferring Turkey.''
''We planned to host the International Investors Council meeting with the participation of chairmen of leading institutions of the world in Istanbul last year. However, the meeting was cancelled. Now, the meeting will be held this year. A certain date has not been set for the meeting yet. Heads of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank want to attend the meeting,'' he said.
Erdikler noted, ''also, we will launch another initiative to promote Turkey as of October. We will visit important finance centers in Britain, the United States, France, Germany, Japan and Italy. We will invite investors to Turkey. We will start our tour by visiting Britain on October 4. We will inform representatives of public and private sectors on atmosphere and opportunities in Turkey. We will invite them to invest in Turkey. We will act in coordination with the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), Union of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD).''
