CAMERON CONSIDERED AS ENTRANCE GATE OF TURKEY TO CENTRAL AFRICA
ANKARA - Turkey-Cameron Joint Economic Commission (JEC) First Term meeting had taken place between August 5-7 in Cameron's capital city Yaunde. The meeting took place within Turkey's strategy to improve economic and trade relations with neighboring and surrounding countries.
Foreign Trade Undersecretary Tuncer Kayalar represented Turkey at the meeting. Cameron had been represented by State Secretary to Develop Industry and Trade Edmond Moampea Mbio.
Foreign Trade Undersecretariat issued a statement and said the decisions taken in line with the protocol signed on August 7 are as follows:
-Establishment of a preferential trade regime aiming to improve current trade between the two countries.
-Implementation of a trade mechanism envisaging changing of agriculture machines and equipment and construction equipment in response to some agriculture and forestry products that would be taken from Cameron.
-Formation of consultation mechanism between Turkish Exporters Assembly and Cameron's Chamber of Industry and Trade aiming to establish Foreign Trade Council.
-Arrangement of Turkish Exports Products Fair in Cameron in the coming six months.
-Turkey's expending technical and education support to Cameron in fields where needed.
It was reported that Cameron, which has more than four billion U.S. dollars foreign trade volume, has important oil, natural gas and agricultural sources.
Cameron is considered as an entrance gate to Central Africa in Turkey's policy to improve economic and trade relations with African countries.
