FOOD TO 50,000 IRAQIS A DAY
When the possibility of sending soldiers to Iraq increased, plans are underway in 28th brigade in Ankara to give food to 50,000 Iraqis a day.
It was reported that the brigade, known as ''Turkish Peace Brigade'', would go there to bring service and tranquility, not for occupation, and attributes importance to social activities.
Turkish soldiers are expected to set up field hospitals, give food for three times a day from temporary kitchens, schools and mosques will be repaired, water and electricity will be supplied to the region, and machinery park would be set up for public works service.

PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY TO SEND A DELEGATION TO IRAQ
It was reported that Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul is in an effort to send a delegation to Iraq mostly comprised of parliamentarians. Gul also wants officials from foreign ministry and military to be included in the delegation.
Gul briefed about this to Red Crescent delegation and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) parliamentarian Turan Comez who earlier went to Iraq. Comez responded positively to the view of Gul.

GOVERNMENT CAN TAKE DECISION ON SOLDIERS
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that the number of soldiers who would be sent to Iraq was not definite yet and stated, ''we are at the level of evaluation. After evaluation, the government will take a decision on the issue.'' Stating that a comprehensive work was necessary to take a decision, Gul said, ''information which will provide Foreign Ministry, General Staff and the government with taking decision is being collected. We will take a decision according to interest of Turkey.''

PHILOSOPHERS IN ISTANBUL
The first ''World Philosophy Congress'' of the 21st century will begin in Istanbul on Sunday. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will also attend opening session of the congress. A total of 1600 philosophers from 83 countries will participate in the congress.

SDIF COULD NOT ADMINISTER WELL EITHER
Commission, which was set up to investigate corruption, claimed that Saving Deposits Insurance Fund (SDIF) could not administer well the banks which had been transferred. The commission said, ''the banks had 12.9 funding loss after being transferred to SDIF.''

PRESIDENT SEZER TO ADDRESS OPENING SESSION OF WORLD PHILOSOPHY CONGRESS
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will attend opening session of the 21st World Philosophy Congress in Lutfi Kirdar Congress and Exhibition Hall.
Wedding ceremony of Bilal Erdogan, son of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Reyyan Uzuner will take place in the Hall in the evening.

RATE OF CRIME INCREASES
Crowded population of Istanbul, intense migration, cosmopolitan structure, unemployment brought by economic crisis, and amnesty law increased rate of crime. It was stressed that there was 10-50 percent increase in rate of crime.
Gangs which appear after working hours, make streets a prison for citizens.

GUL: LAST OPPORTUNITY FOR 2,000 PEOPLE
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said they hoped people would benefit from Reassociation Law in the best way. Gul said, ''as long as we see, they started to benefit from the law.''
Stating that the request to send Turkish soldiers to Iraq was under evaluation, Gul said Reassociation Law was the last change to 2000 people from terrorist organizations who did not get involved in an activity.
When asked whether or not Turkish soldiers would be sent to Iraq, Gul said, ''we are at the evaluation stage. We will take a decision in line with Turkey's interests.''

70-PERSON TURKISH TEAM TO BUILD NEW EDUCATION SYSTEM OF EUROPE
A new system is being prepared for pre-university education in the European Union (EU) member countries. Turkish youth who are specialized on informatics are preparing software of education system basing on computer which will start to be implemented in 2009. The project which was prepared by e-learning center of Siemens Business Service where 70 Turkish people work was accepted as new education system by the EU. The education program worth of 55 million U.S. dollars aims to remove problems in education system.

AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR MAKES 61.3 PERCENT OF ITS EXPORTS TO 15 EU MEMBERS
Automotive sector made 61.3 percent of its exports, which was made to 159 countries in the first seven months, to the European Union (EU) member 15 countries between January and July 2003. Automotive sector exported its products to 159 countries and autonomous regions and 13 free zones between January and July 2003. A total of 2 billion 458 million 561 thousand U.S. dollars part of the 4 billion 7 million 621 thousand U.S. dollars automotive exports was gained from the EU market. The sector exported its products to Germany, Italy, France, Britain, Spain, Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Greece, Finland, Denmark, Portugal and Luxembourg.

OVER 1000 TERRORIST ORGANIZATION MEMBERS APPLY FOR REASSOCIATION LAW
Over 1000 terrorist organization members have applied to benefit from Reassociation Law so far. Terrorist organization members or those who aided and abetted members of terrorist organizations have to apply for the law within six months as of August 6 when the law came into effect. The law is adopted for the reassociation of terrorist organization members and to continue social peace and solidarity by strengthening it.

ONE PERSON DIE IN ACCIDENT WHICH OCCUR IN MINE IN KARAMAN
One person died in an accident which occured in a mine in Ermenek township of central Karaman province. Three workers were injured in the accident. Injured people were sent to the hospital.

FOREIGN INVESTORS GOT THE FOREIGN MARKET WHEN THE CONTRACTORS COULD NOT FIND GUARANTY
Market share of our contractors, who signed proceedings worth of billions of U.S. dollars in international markets in 1990s, reduced to the level of 450 million U.S. dollars. Economic crisis experienced in 2000 and 2001 were influential in losing foreign markets.
Turkish contractors think that construction sector would shrink 10 percent more as of the end of year.
Contractors are looking for ways to unite forces to increase their market shares in the world to the previous level.
