IZMIR - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has indicated that EXPO 2015 was one of the biggest projects of Turkey.
Holding talks in western city of Izmir, Gul recalled that Izmir`s candidacy to host EXPO 2015 was declared on May 3rd, 2006, stating that 98 countries would cast their votes on host country/city of EXPO 2015 during election in 2008.
Gul noted that he was visiting the city to exchange views with authorities on preparations till elections. He added that`s why Turkish authorities should start to work on this issue as soon as possible.
``Izmir is a very important city due to its location and culture,`` he underlined.
Gul reiterated that more than 50 million people would visit Izmir in 2015 in case this city was chosen as the host of EXPO.
Replying to a question, he stressed that Turkish security forces had been exerting great efforts in fight against terrorism, underlining that he fully believed that Turkey would host any event successfully.
