VIENNA - The EU-Latin America Summit of Heads of State or Government has begun in Vienna under the auspices of Austria which holds the rotating presidency of EU.
The summit is taking place in Vienna`s Congress Center and is being attended by leaders of EU countries, candidate countries (including Turkey) and Latin American leaders. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan also attended the opening of the summit. A total of 62 countries are being represented at the Vienna Summit.
Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met his Greek counterpart Kostas Karamanlis for about 45 minutes prior to the beginning of the summit. Erdogan-Karamanlis meeting was closed to press corps.
The EU-Latin America meeting is expected to facilitate cooperation with Latin American countries in all areas.
