GAZIANTEP - Turkey, on the path to EU membership, should pursue reform process especially in political criteria area, said Martin Dawson, Undersecretary of European Commission`s Turkey Delegation, on Friday.
Speaking to A.A, Dawson said that Turkey has implemented very significant and impressive reforms in many areas in the last 2-3 years.
He stressed that stability which was settled in economic and political areas in Turkey has eased the improvement of required reforms for EU membership.
Dawson noted that it is very important to pursue political reforms because Turkish citizens should have equal rights as citizens of other EU member countries.
Noting that Turkey`s EU membership is possible, Dawson said that if Turkey fulfills all criteria for EU membership, it can join the union.
Dawson said that ``hope`` is not enough for EU membership; Turkey should meet necessary requirements.
