IZMIR - The City of Izmir has indefinitely postponed a sister city protocol with Greek City of Thessaloniki due to the inauguration of a monument in Thessaloniki that was erected to remember the ''Pontus Greek genocide''.
Izmir Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu has remarked today that the protocol with Thessaloniki, originally scheduled to be signed in June, has been postponed indefinitely.
According to Kocaoglu, the ''genocide'' monument in Thessaloniki caused the postponement of the protocol.
