KAYSERI - Three people died from poisoning in Karanlikdere hamlet of Bor town in central Anatolian city of Nigde, sources said on Tuesday.
Number of people under treatment in hospitals is 111.
Erciyes University Gevher Nesibe Hospital Head Doctor Prof. Mehmet Doganay said many women and children were brought to hospitals in cities of Nigde and Kayseri after they had dinner served during a funeral in a house in Karanlikdere hamlet.
Doganay said blood and urine samples were sent to Ankara for examination, and the preliminary results showed that the poisoning stemmed from insecticide.
He said 7 of those patients are being treated in intensive care unit, and the others are in stable condition.
Health Ministry experts came to the region to examine the house.
Samiye Esen (45) and Tugce Altuntas (12) died in Bor State Hospital on Monday. Sibel Tabanli (35) died in hospital today.
Sources said that the room where women and children stayed during the funeral had earlier been contaminated with insecticide.
