SOLDIERS TO GO TO IRAQ
A meeting on Iraq was held in the Prime Ministry building under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok, Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Undersecretary Senkal Atasagun and Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal attended the meeting which lasted for one hour and 40 minutes. A high-ranking official who also attended the meeting said, ''we reached agreement that Turkey will not stay out of developments in Iraq. If necessary, the parliament will convene in an extraordinary session. Work for persuading the AK Party group will also start.''

BABACAN WARNS REAL SECTOR
State Minister Ali Babacan said that real sector should implement risk administration and stated that the sector should not be involved in an adventure concerning exchange rate. Babacan who chatted with economy reporters said that they did not want to get a new loan from the IMF after 2004 and noted that they did not take up new stand-by issue with IMF. Babacan said that Turkey has already used loan over its quota and he thought that IMF would not welcome a new loan.

MOTION IS ON THE WAY
Iraq summit chaired by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which Chief of General Staff and National Intelligence Organization Chairman participated in, the road map regarded with Iraq was determined. A decision had been taken to initiate studies to send soldiers to stability force. Parliament is expected to convene extraordinarily in September.
It was stressed that Turkey could not remain as spectator to the developments in its close neighbor. The possible motion is expected to include an expression, ''to contribute to the stability and tranquility of Iraq''. Approval of National Security Council (NSC) is also expected regarding the steps that would be taken.

INVITATION WILL BE WAITED FROM IRAQ FOR SOLDIERS
Ankara reached a consensus for presence of Turkish soldiers in Iraq with the demand of Temporary Administration Council in Iraq.
Request of the United States from Turkey to send soldiers was discussed in the summit held on Tuesday under the leadership of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The participants adopted the view that calling of Turkish soldiers with a joint invitation of regional leaders Massoud Barzani, Jalal Talabani, and Ahmet Celebi would be more influential to convince parliamentarians.

MASS BLOW FROM SWITZERLAND TO UZAN FAMILY AFTER LONDON AND NEW YORK
Opposition made by Uzan family in Switzerland to the decision to ''freeze assets of them in the world'' was rejected. Switzerland's Supreme Court reversed four appeals made by Uzan family.
Motorola company said this decision facilitated freezing of assets of Uzan family in Switzerland worth of 800 million U.S. dollars. Many assets of Uzan family had been confiscated in the United States and Britain.

BARGAINING WITH THE UNITED STATES WILL DETERMINE CONDITIONS OF 8.5 MILLION U.S. DOLLARS
State Minister Ali Babacan warned real sector to be careful about risk administration and not to have adventure with the foreign exchange.
Babacan said there was not any obstacle in front of 8.5 million U.S. dollars credit of the United States, noting that a delegation would visit Washington on August 18 to determine the conditions of the credit.
Babacan said the U.S. credit could not be shown by financial tables unless a contract is signed.

FOUR CONDITIONS FOR IRAQ DISCUSSED IN SUMMIT
Four fundamental principles were discussed in the summit held with the participation of Chief of General Staff and government members regarded with sending of Turkish soldiers to Iraq.
-Attitude of the United States against PKK/KADEK elements in northern part of Iraq should be waited.
-Temporary government should invite Turkish soldiers to prevent Turkey not to be in the position of occupier.
-Turkey should take place in rebuilding process in Iraq.
-Regional countries and European Union (EU) countries should be convinced.

ANKARA NOT TO INTERFERE IN BAKU
Turkey prefers to cover the developments in Azerbaijan which are experienced after health of Azerbaijani President Haydar Aliyev becomes serious. Ankara implements the policy ''not to be a side to the process'' because of the coup attempts which had taken place in the past.
Ankara, which covers the developments from outside, also wants statements, pertaining to health of Aliyev, currently under medical treatment in GATA hospital in Ankara, to be made by Azerbaijan.

ANKARA: ''IT IS DIFFICULT WITHOUT U.N.''
The United States' asking Turkey for sending soldiers to Iraq was discussed in a meeting in Prime Ministry building on Tuesday. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok also attended the meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Prime Ministry, General Staff and Foreign Ministry have similar view that if Turkey sends soldiers to Iraq without the United Nations (U.N.) resolution, the country will be in a position of occupier there.

BABACAN SAYS TURKEY SHOULD PAY ITS DEBTS
State Minister Ali Babacan said that they did not want a new loan from the IMF and stated that they should start to pay debt from now on. Babacan, who chatted with reporters in the Treasury Undersecretariat, recalled that the condition of release of 8.5 billion U.S. dollars loan was completion of the fifth review with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and continuation of the economic program in practice without any delays. A delegation would go to Washington on August 18 to work on the mentioned loan, Babacan noted. Babacan stated that they wanted IMF experts to join those meetings.

ATTACK ON TURKISH CONVOY IN BAGHDAD
Assailants burned one of the two Turkish lorries which brought supplies to Turkish Embassy in Iraq at the entrance of Baghdad on Monday night. Sources said that unknown assailants launched an attack on the two lorries in Eddebas district of Baghdad and noted that one of the lorries totally burnt, while no important damage occurred in the second one. The drivers of the lorries were not injured in the attack, and they came to Turkish Embassy for their passport proceedings.

PRESIDENT SEZER APPROVES REASSOCIATION LAW
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer approved Reassociation Law on Tuesday. Presidency Press Center issued a statement noting that Sezer sent the law to Prime Ministry to be published in Official Gazette.
The law aims reassociation of members of terrorist organizations which are formed to commit crime for political and ideological aims. The law will be implemented for those who participated and did not participate the crimes of terrorist organizations among members of terrorist organizations who surrender without showing armed resistance or members who receded from the terrorist organization and who were captured. Those, who provided shelter to terrorist organization members by knowing their situation or who obtained equipment, weapon or ammunition or helped them by other ways will also benefit from the law.

FIVE CONDITIONS TO UNITED STATES FOR SOLDIERS TO IRAQ
Conditions put forward by Turkey became clarified in Iraq summit held in Prime Ministry where request of the United States to Turkey regarded with sending of soldiers to Iraq was discussed.
In case the conditions are fulfilled, sending soldiers to Iraq is expected to become official as of September. According to this, sending soldiers will become definite basing on the fight of the United States against terrorist PKK-KADEK organization in northern part of Iraq. In the risk analysis that was made, it was stated that Turkey's security concerns about northern part of Iraq continued, and that sending soldiers to Iraq would not be right.

PRESIDENT SEZER APPROVES REASSOCIATION LAW
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer approved Reassociation Law which the government attributed great importance and which led to resignations in Republican People's Party (CHP).
Sezer sent the law to Prime Ministry to be published in the Official Gazette.
The law aims reassociation of members of terrorist organizations which are formed to commit crime for political and ideological aims.
