SANLIURFA - A Syrian delegation headed by Syrian Ar Raqqah city's Agricultural Chamber Chairman Ebu Ali came to southeastern Sanliurfa province to see the Southeast Anatolian Development Project (GAP) on Tuesday.
The Syrian delegation which came to the city as the guest of Sanliurfa Agricultural Chamber, visited Governor Sukru Kocatepe. Kocatepe said that the relations with Syria rapidly developed during the recent years.
Noting that Ceylanpinar, Suruc and Akcakale towns of Sanliurfa province were neighbours of three important cities of Syria namely Raqqah, Al Hasakah and Aleppo, Kocatepe said that ''Sanliurfa has a 220-km border with Syria. There are many things that can be sold by Sanliurfa and our country to Syria. Our border gate in Akcakale will be opened soon. Our commercial relations will further improve within the scope of border trade centre. We can export many products to Syria particularly textile products and irrigation equipment. We can buy the products which we need from Syria. Thus, the cost will be lower.''
Ebu Ali said in his part that the two countries were similar to each other with their history and culture, adding that ''we are pleased as the relations with Turkey improve because we are border neighbours. We have relatives here, we have many things to learn.''
Sanlýurfa Agricultural Chamber's Chairman Halil Dolap said in his part that they would take the Syrian delegation to a tour in GAP and inform them about agricultural activities in the region.
