ANKARA - Iran's national security chief Ali Larijani arrived in Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at the Esenboga Airport, Larijani stressed deep-rooted historical relations and cooperation between Iran and Turkey, and said that two countries have common interests.
Larijani said that his country wished peaceful solution of the nuclear program controversy, and stated that they think that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the place where this issue can be solved.
However, IAEA will be excluded from this process if a solution is tried to be found in the UN Security Council, he noted.
According to Larijani, Iran does not want to see such a development.
Larijani stated that they are trying to be transparent in their nuclear program.
Noting that Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is a good agreement, Larijani said that they do not have any intention to abandon this treaty. But, Iran will reconsider this matter in case of any threat, he indicated.
Larijani, who is visiting Turkey upon the invitation of Turkish National Security Council (MGK) Secretary General Yigit Alpogan, will meet Alpogan, PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and FM Abdullah Gul.
Ankara will recommend Larijani that Iran should be ''more open and transparent'' about its nuclear activities as a signatory to the NPT, and convey international community's expectations.
