ANKARA - The ratio of Turkey's debt burden to GNP has decreased between 2002 and 2005.
Turkey's total foreign debt increased 39.7 billion USD and domestic debt rose 90.7 billion USD between 2002 and 2005.
On the other hand, the ratio of foreign debt to GNP dropped from 77.5 percent to 46.9 percent and the ratio of domestic debt to GNP fell from 54.5 percent to 50.3 percent during the same period.
According to these data, Turkey's debt burden has decreased by 30.6 points over the last three years.
Turkey's foreign debt amounted to 145.8 billion USD in 2003 and 161.9 billion in 2004. The ratio of these figures to GNP became 57.1 percent and 50.4 percent respectively.
