ADANA - ``The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline became the symbol of the United Nations` International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence,`` said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday.
Speaking at the ``Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Friendship Initiative`` organized in association with Turkish, Azerbaijani and Georgian women in Ceyhan town of the southern city of Adana, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ``Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will become operational in June. Not only Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia, but the whole world attached importance to the project. Earlier, the United Nations declared the first decade of the 21st century as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline became its symbol.``
Meanwhile, Guili Alasqnia, mother of President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia, said that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project also consolidated friendly relations among Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
When asked by Azerbaijani journalists whether recent acts of terrorism could threaten safety of the oil pipeline, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ``there are acts of terrorism all around the world. We cannot give up such an important project because of terrorism. We will start pumping oil from Ceyhan to the whole world in June.``
