ISTANBUL - Prominent Turkish writer and publisher Erdal Oz passed away at the age of 71 in Istanbul on Saturday.
Oz had been receiving cancer treatment for a long time.
He will be laid to rest in Istanbul on May 9th.
Oz published his first novel in 1960. He was presented with the Orhan Kemal Novel Award in 1975, the Sait Faik Story Award in 1998 and with the Sedat Simavi Story Award in 2001.
His books were also published in Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Syria and Macedonia.
Some of his books are ''Yaralisin (You are Wounded)'', ''Kanayan (Bleeding)'', ''Deniz Gezmis Anlatiyor (Deniz Gezmis Tells)'', ''Gulunun Soldugu Aksam (The Night His Rose Wilted)'', ''Havada Kar Sesi Var (There is Voice of Snow in the Air)'' and ''Odalarda (In the Rooms)''.
