VAN - The first hearing in the case regarding bombing of a bookstore in Semdinli town of the neighboring city of Hakkari on November 9th, 2005 ended late on Friday.
The three suspects -- non-commissioned officers Ali Kaya and Ozcan Ildeniz, and confessor Veysel Ates -- were listened in the first hearing of the case at High Criminal Court in the eastern city of Van.
Prosecutor Metin Dikec demanded that the suspects should stay in prison as some evidence should be collected.
The court accepted Dikec's demand and adjourned the hearing to June 1st, 2006.
The suspects are accused of homicide and staging acts to disrupt the state's unity and integrity. If convicted, they could face life imprisonment.
On November 9th, 2005, a hand grenade was hurled into a bookstore, that belongs to Seferi Yilmaz, in Semdinli, killing a person. The Semdinli attack set off days of rioting that left four dead.
