ISTANBUL - Turkish police seized 44.8 kilograms of heroin in operations staged in Turkish metropolis of Istanbul, Deputy Police Chief Sammaz Demirtas said on Friday.
Demirtas told reporters that also 14,291 illicit pills and 40.1 kilograms of hashish were confiscated in the operations.
Police detained 68 people in connection with the haul, he indicated.
According to Demirtas, the heroin was destined for a European country.
