VIENNA - ''Security issue is important but it should not hamper basic democratic rights,'' said Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin in the meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Permanent Council in Vienna, Austria.
Briefing head of delegations of 55 countries about the project of Alliance of Civilizations, Aydin said, ''clash of civilizations has reached a dangerous dimension in Europe. It is important to collaborate in the fight against clash of civilizations, Islamphobia and racism.''
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Aydin said that meetings will be held in Senegal and Turkey soon within the scope of Alliance of Civilizations project. ''UN Secretary General, Spanish Prime Minister, as well as Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the meeting in Turkey. We will prepare a report and submit it to UN Secretary General. The meeting will probably be held in September in Istanbul'' He noted.
State Minister Aydin will attend a panel discussion on ''EU-Turkey Relations'' tonight.
