Record In Tourist Number In July

ANKARA - Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Monday that the number of tourists who visited Turkey in July, 2003 exceeded 2 million people for the first time.
The Ministry said in a written statement that Turkish tourism was an experienced sector which proved itself in overcoming crises (such as the Iraqi war).
''Despite the decreases in the number of tourists by 26 percent in March, 22 percent in April and 13 percent decrease in May; the number of tourists increased by 3 percent in June and by 10 percent in July, when compared to the same months in 2002,'' it was added.
