ANKARA - Republican People's Party (CHP) applied to the Constitutional Court on Monday asking the Court to cancel certain articles of the law on sale of immovable properties belonging to Treasury and the law on encouraging foreign investment.
CHP also requested the Court to stop the enforcement of those provisions.
CHP deputy group leader Haluk Koc talked to journalists after submitting the petitions to the Court.
Koc said that the law on encouraging foreign investments ensured foreign companies to buy immovable properties in Turkey without the principle of reciprocity, adding that this was problematic.
Noting that they wanted partial annulment of the law which foresaw sale of immovable properties of the Treasury, Koc stated that ''a state is described with its country. If the sale of certain regions of a country to foreign persons as an immovable property is eased by without looking for the principle of reciprocity, after a while foreigners can get territories by using the advantages of that law and they can be effective in this country. This is against the Constitution.''
