DOHA - ''There are lots of things to be done in Qatar for Turkish contracting sector,'' Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said and urged Turkish contractors to take action quickly.
Tuzmen met Qatar's First Deputy Prime Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir al-Thani and Minister of Economy & Commerce Yusif Husayn al-Kamal in Doha.
Tuzmen said investment and trade opportunities and problems of the region were discussed during his meeting with al-Thani.
Stating that al-Thani expressed willingness of his country to make investments in Turkey, Tuzmen said al-Thani told him that they were pursuing 5-6 projects in Turkey in finance, tourism, health and industry sectors. ''He said they expect Turkey to take action quickly,'' Tuzmen noted.
''Turkey should promote itself, its goods and services well to get more shares from the infrastructure and superstructure tenders,'' Tuzmen indicated.
''Turkey may increase its actual 132 million USD trade volume with Qatar to 500 million USD in three years. Contracting services will trigger this,'' he said.
Tuzmen, who also met al-Kamal, pointed out that he invited Qatar's investors to participate in privatization projects in Turkey.
Tuzmen said Qatar would build 200 skyscrapers within 2 years, indicating that, ''this will attract very important investments. Turkish contractors and architecture sector should take their place in this region.''
Meanwhile, it was reported that Turkish company Gama won a tender of 190 million USD for construction of a gas energy unit.
