LEFKOSA - TRNC Foundations Administration will demand compensation worth of 173 million U.S. dollars for ''Bekirpasa Water'' which was used by Greek Cypriots since 1963.
Issuing a written statement on Friday, TRNC Foundations Administration's Director General Taner Dervis noted that it was proven by documents that a big part of the real estates of the foundation were seized in a way which was against international law, adding that the Foundations Administration formed an action plan for restoration of the mentioned properties together with their compensation rights.
Dervis said that the Foundation demanded compensation for ''Bekirpasa Water'' adding that if no such compensation was given, they would resort to legal ways in local and international platforms.
Recalling that a master plan was prepared for the lands which were proven to belong to Foundations and closed Maras, Dervis said that they targeted to increase the national income by 100 percent by opening 5,000 business places having bed-capacity for 20,000 persons and by creating employment for 15,000 persons within the scope of the plan.
It was noted that the amount of the total compensation accrued to date exceeded 500 billion dollars for the foundation lands.
