ANKARA - ''The EU negotiation process is satisfactory both for EU and Turkey,'' said MFA spokesman Namik Tan in his weekly press briefing on Wednesday.
When reporters recalled that the European Commission asked Turkey to meet several criteria to open ''public procurement'' and ''competition policy'' chapters, Tan said, ''detailed and introductory screenings on 19 chapters have been completed so far. Also negotiations on two chapters will start soon. Both the EU and Turkish officials are informed about future timetable. Thus, both parties do not have any problem.''
''Turkey is ready to be asked for benchmark (opening criteria) in several chapter headings. EU process is a long and difficult path to go. We will certainly face with some problems, but both EU and Turkey have the will to overcome these problems,'' he added.
