ANKARA - Sumru Cortoglu was elected chairperson of the Council of State on Tuesday by the votes of 48 members.
Council of State Acting Chairperson Tansel Colasan got 28 votes.
Cortoglu was born in the northern city of Tokat in 1943. She graduated from the Ankara University School of Law in 1966. She has been acting as chairperson of the 4th Chamber of the Council of State since 2001.
She is married with two children.
