LEFKOSA - Celebrations were held on Monday evening in Lefkosa Ataturk Square in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to mark May 1st.
Executives of various political parties, unions, non-governmental organizations and executives of Greek Cypriot PEO union attended the celebrations.
Mehmet Seyis, Chairman of Dev-Is, said ''yes'' vote of the Turkish Cypriots in April 24th, 2004 referendum was for a bi-communal and bi-federal unified Cyprus, stating that their struggle would continue till they reach the target.
Seyis called on leaders of Turkish and Greek Cypriot parties, Greece and Turkey to resume talks which will result in peace.
Sotiris Tellas, who spoke on behalf of PEO Union, said May 1st was the international solidarity day of the workers, and noted that, ''we are struggling for reunification of our country in the new world order.''
