ANKARA - Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said on Wednesday that Turkey had not suffered from any damage or loss due to the decision of the parliament not to accept the motion on deployment of foreign troops in Turkey and dispatch of Turkish troops abroad.
Arinc held a press conference to evaluate the 22nd term legislative year.
Parliament Speaker Arinc said that esteem of Turkey, parliament and the government increased thanks to that decision.
Arinc noted, ''I don't know if a new motion is brought onto the agenda. But, we will evaluate every kind of motion in accordance with the by-laws and make our decision accordingly.''
Emphasizing that he was always behind the decision of the parliament not to accept the motion and defended it, Arinc said that he and his friends were congratulated on their decision during their foreign tours.
The decision of the parliament was an appearance of the will of the nation, Arinc pointed out.
Further developments clearly showed how correct and appropriate decision it was, Arinc said.
Arinc noted that the parliament regarded national interest and made a decision in line with those interests, adding that nobody should worry about that.
