Türkiye to Deploy Development Team in Afghanistan's Wardak Province

Türkiye's Foreign Ministry announced Monday that the country will establish a provincial development team in Wardak, Afghanistan, as part of its broader commitment to supporting the war-torn nation's recovery.

Ankara has pledged 100 million USD in assistance to Afghanistan, to be delivered over five years and directed toward improving the welfare of Afghan citizens. Türkiye's contributions span education, health, infrastructure, and security sectors.

The announcement comes alongside Türkiye's participation in the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board (JCMB), a 28-member body created under the Afghanistan Compact. That document was signed at a London conference held 31 January through 1 February 2006 and subsequently endorsed by the UN Security Council. The board includes seven Afghan government representatives and 21 delegates from the international community, and is tasked with guiding Afghanistan's reconstruction over the next five years.
