ISTANBUL - Boeing delivered 2 of the 15 (737-800) new jets ordered by the Turkish Airlines (THY) back in September 2004, it was reported on Friday.
According to a statement released by Boeing, THY actually has 28 Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet; the target number being 49.
The statement indicated that THY placed with Boeing two big orders in the past 8 years. THY first bought 26 (737-800) aircraft on October 7th, 1997. Later, it gave orders for 23 planes, 8 of them optional, on September 28th, 2004. On August 8th, 2005, THY used its option card and increased the number of jets ordered to 23.
