ANKARA - Supreme Court of Appeals overruled a decision regarding caricaturist Musa Kart who was ordered to pay a fine of 5,000 YTL (approximately 3,700 USD) due to his cartoon depicting Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a ''cat''.
Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet published a cartoon, authored by cartoonist Musa Kart, depicting PM Erdogan as a ''cat''. Erdogan's lawyer filed a lawsuit against Kart.
A court in Ankara ordered Kart to pay a 5,000 YTL fine after it found him guilty of insulting the premier.
Today, Supreme Court of Appeals overruled this verdict and decided that the request for compensation should be rejected.
