ANKARA - Turkish State Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan will leave for Washington on April 20th to attend International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Spring meetings which will be held between April 22nd and 23rd.
Babacan and accompanying economists will attend meetings of International Monetary & Financial Committee as well as Development Committee within the scope of Spring meetings. Reform activities of IMF and World Bank besides developments in international economy and finance will be taken up during the meetings.
Babacan will brief high-level officials of IMF and World Bank about the developments in Turkish economic program, social security reform, structural reforms and appointments to Turkish Central Bank.
On the other hand, Babacan will hold bilateral meetings with IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato, high-level officials of U.S. Department of Treasury, and World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz.
Babacan and Turkish Treasury Undersecretary Ibrahim Canakci will proceed from Washington to New York on April 24th to attend UN Economic & Social Council meeting.
Babacan will also meet representatives of international investment consulting companies in New York.
IMF-World Bank Annual meeting will be held in Singapore in September.
