ANKARA - A group of members of Human Rights Association (IHD) and some nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) held on Saturday a demonstration to protest the United States.
Members who gathered on Yuksel Street in Ankara chanted slogans and protested initiative of sending soldiers to Iraq and violation of human rights in Iraq.
IHD Ankara branch chairman Ender Buyukculha asserted that the United States occupied Iraq. Claiming that the United States violated human rights in Iraq, Buyukculha asserted ''imperialist powers under the leadership of the United States violate basic rights and freedoms of people living in Iraqi territories which they attacked to fulfill the promise of bringing democracy and freedom to Iraq.''
Demonstrators later dispersed peacefully.
