Dr. Sadik Ahmet Commemorated In Western Thrace

KOMOTINI - Dr. Sadýk Ahmet, the founder of Friendship, Equality and Peace Party was commemorated upon his eighth death anniversary in Western Thrace, Greece on Thursday.
Addressing the ceremony held near the grave of Dr. Sadýk Ahmet, Justice Minister Cemil Cicek said that Sadýk Ahmet was a leader who launched efforts to develop cooperation between Turkey and Greece. Noting that Sadýk Ahmet was also known in the international arena for his efforts for cooperation between the two countries and for the efforts he launched to protect the rights of the Turkish minority living in Western Thrace, Cicek said that ''everybody knows that he was a man of cause. If Sadýk Ahmet lived today, the conditions of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace could have been better.''
CHP deputy Kemal Demirel, Ankara Trade Chamber Sinan Aygun, Turkish Consul General to Komotini Huseyin Avni Botsali, officials from Religious Affairs, representatives of Association of Western Thrace and relatives of Dr. Sadýk Ahmet attended the ceremony.
