ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou reached an agreement during their phone conversation on Wednesday that the initiatives regarding confidence building measures in the Aegean created a positive atmosphere.
Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that two ministers had a phone conversation following the press conference made by the Secretary General of NATO Lord Robertson on Wednesday concerning the agreement on two new confidence building measures between Turkey and Greece as a result of talks held in NATO.
Both ministers highly appreciated the efforts of Robertson in achieving this result and reiterated their mutual determination for the continuation of confidence building measures process.
Sides also expressed their conviction that this process would create a positive atmosphere in the Aegean and strengthen the understanding and cooperation between Turkey and Greece.
The measures are related to the establishment of cooperation between the Turkish and Greek national defense colleges and exchange of personnel between the ''partnership for peace'' training centers of the two countries.
