ANKARA - World Bank said on Wednesday that Andrew Vorkink was appointed as the new Turkey director of the World Bank.
Releasing a statement, World Bank said that Vorkink's appointment would enter into force as of August 15 and stated that former World Bank Turkey Director Ajay Chhibber was appointed as director of Operations Evaluation Department (OED) of the bank.
The statement said that Vorkink who started to work in World Bank in 1977 was engaged in legal reforms in Central Asia and Eastern Europe regions including also Turkey and noted that he was also an expert at fight against corruption.
Mr. Vorkink had secondary, high school and college education in Robert College in Istanbul. He has a B.A. from Yale and a J.D. from Harvard Universities.
His main subject of study was Turkish History and Ataturk's reforms during his education in Turkey.
