Erdogan Says Government Is Resolved To Even Hold Referendum On Sale Of Areas Which Technically Cease To Be Forest

ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that the government was resolved to hold referendum if necessary about the constitutional amendment regarding the areas which technically cease to be forest.
Addressing the parliamentary group meeting of his party, Erdogan said that the Treasury was in the position of borrowing again to pay its internal debts, adding that ''if new sources are included to the system, this will decrease new borrowing need of the Treasury. This will contribute to decreasing of interest rates, therefore new sources should be transferred to the system.'' Erdogan pointed out that they tried to overcome that vicious circle by using the capacities of the country, noting that he believed necessary majority would be ensured for adopting the constitutional amendment on this issue and that there would not be any need for referendum.
