Gul Has Busy Schedule In Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul is expected to be in Washington D.C. late on Tuesday to take up all dimensions of Turkish-American relations.
Foreign Minister Gul will start his contacts on Wednesday. He will meet with members of American-Turkish Council at lunch and later meet with some members of U.S. Congress. Foreign Minister Gul is also expected to have a meeting with editors of Washington Post newspaper.
Foreign Minister Gul will have luncheon with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell on Thursday and later he will meet with U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in White House. Gul is expected to meet with U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld the same day.
Gul will meet with representatives of Jewish institutions and IMF Managing Director Horst Koehler on Friday. Gul will also address the think-tank Washington Institute about Turkish-American relations and he will meet with Condoleezza Rice, the national security adviser of U.S. President George Bush the same day.
After meeting with officials of Assembly of Turkish-American Associations, Foreign Minister Gul will hold a news conference. Gul is expected to leave Washington on Saturday.
Issues of sending Turkish soldiers to Iraq, fight with terrorist organization PKK/KADEK, the existence of Turkish soldiers in north of Iraq, Cyprus, European Union (EU), Middle East peace, relations with Armenia, stability of Iraq, contributions of Turkey to reconstruction of Iraq and the detention of Turkish soldiers in Sulaymaniyah are expected to be discussed during Gul's contacts.
