ANKARA - ``Turkey maintains its efforts to have nonpermanent seat on the UN Security Council,`` said Namik Tan, spokesman of Turkish Foreign Ministry.
In a weekly press conference, Tan noted, ``Turkey has been carrying out its promotion campaign on its candidacy for nonpermanent seat on the council for the period between 2009 and 2010.``
Tan indicated that three special representatives were assigned to assist promotional activities of Turkey, stating that these representatives were holding talks in the country and abroad.
He added that Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul would host a luncheon for foreign ambassadors in Ankara on Wednesday.
