GAZIANTEP - The ''International Iraqi Fair'', to be held in south-eastern city of Gaziantep under the auspices of the Iraqi Ministry of Trade from June 7th to 11th, 2006, has attracted the attention of not only Turkish businessmen but also others from USA, EU countries and Japan.
''So far, 95 percent of the stands at the fair have been rented. Over 1,000 companies applied to take part in the fair. All hotel rooms in Gaziantep have been booked for the month of June. Hotel rooms in Kilis, Kahramanmaras and Sanliurfa have also been reserved in June, 2006'' sources indicated.
The ''International Iraqi Fair'' is made possible by cooperation of Iraqi Ministry of Trade, Gaziantep Chamber of Industry, Turkish Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade and Turkish Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges.
''The fair will also boost tourism in the region. Gaziantep will reap the economic benefits of the fair,'' said a Turkish official.
Gaziantep is approximately 200 kilometers away from the Mediterranean seaport of Mersin.
