ADANA - As discussions are underway pertaining to the malign impacts of toxic waste barrels discovered in Tuzla town of Istanbul, sources said use of spurious agricultural pesticide was the cause of another environmental disaster.
It was reported that pesticides illegally smuggled from the Middle Eastern countries, mainly Iran, were sold to the producers by mixing various substances in it.
Ayhan Barut, Chairman of Chamber of Agricultural Engineers in southern city of Adana, told A.A correspondent that pesticides could be hazardous to human health and could pollute soil unless it is used timely and appropriately.
''Owing to the high subsidy to the agriculture in Iran, a large amount of pesticide remain unsold. Those products are shipped to Turkey through illegal ways,'' Barut indicated.
''Such pesticide is very hazardous to human health, even may cause cancer because spurious agricultural pesticide include carcinogenic substances,'' he added.
