ISTANBUL - ''We have been working on the toxic barrels in Tuzla district of Istanbul for the past one month,'' said Turkish Minister of Environment & Forestry Osman Pepe.
''We began digging out the toxic barrels upon a tip-off from a local resident,'' told Pepe. The matter is actually in the hands of the local prosecutor. Legal process has already begun,'' stressed Pepe.
Minister Pepe made a call to all Turkish citizens to report activities that damage or destroy the environment. ''It would make our job easier if people reported activities that harm the environment and forests,'' noted Pepe.
