ISTANBUL - Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe who represented Turkey at the unofficial meeting of the European Union (EU) environment and energy ministers in Montecatini, Italy returned to Turkey on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, Pepe said that clean energy usage, change in climate and several environment problems were discussed in the meeting which was very beneficial.
Stating that putting into practice of Kyoto Agreement on clean energy usage was also taken up in the meeting, Pepe said that pollution in Black Sea was also discussed in the meeting.
Pepe said that it was underlined at the meeting that there could be very serious pollution problems in Black Sea if necessary measures were not taken. Stating that German environment minister and he took up the issue in their meeting, Pepe said that he and German environment minister would come together to discuss the issue in coming days.
Pepe said that they also had a chance to visit Italian companies which sold saplings to world market and stated that he and Italian officials took up cooperation possibilities on the issue between Turkish and Italian companies in his meetings in Italy.
He added that companies of the two countries could work on joint projects in the following period.
