Galatasaray pulled three points clear at the top of the Türkiye Turkcell Super League after beating Rizespor 4-2. Hakan Sukur netted twice, once in each half, while Sasa Ilic and an own goal by Allyson rounded out the scoring.
The victory came on the same weekend defending champions Fenerbahce suffered a stunning 5-3 loss to relegation-threatened Vestel Manisaspor, with Sinan Kaloglu completing a hat-trick for the bottom-side hosts. Galatasaray now lead on 74 points, with Fenerbahce three back on 71, and only four rounds remaining.
Elsewhere, Trabzonspor climbed level with Besiktas on 48 points after a 3-0 victory over Diyarbakirspor. Besiktas had drawn 2-2 at Gaziantepspor earlier in the weekend. Genclerbirligi slipped to fifth following a 2-0 defeat at Erciyesspor, leaving them on 47 points.
