IHA- Two US soldiers were killed and two others were wounded when unknown attackers fired rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) on the military convoy near capital Baghdad.
The attack occured on the highway to Fallujah at local time 10:20. The highway exit ramp to Fallujah, a town 50 kilometres west of the capital, was quickly cut off by about 40 armoured personnel carriers and other US vehicles as soldiers conducted broad searches of the area with helicopter gunships circling overhead. A US military convoy was seen stopped on the roadside there as several heavily armed soldiers conducted searches of cars and people.
The RPG attack was the third in 12 hours in the area around Fallujah, which is located in a restive Sunni Muslim belt that has been gripped by violence against US forces since the war to topple Saddam Hussein ended May 1.
