ISTANBUL - Delivering a speech at regular general assembly of Independent Industrialists' & Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) in Istanbul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed, ''Turkey is standing on its own feet.''
Erdogan said that Turkey passed through difficult days that stemmed from economic and political crises, noting that but now there were bright days for the country.
Stating that Turkey achieved important successes in exports, privatization and international direct investments, he underscored that national income per capita exceeded 5,000 USD and total income rose from 180 billion to 360 billion USD.
Erdogan noted that his government provided jobs for nearly 1.7 million people within last three and a half years.
In regard to current account deficit, Erdogan noted, ''we do not consider current deficit a threat. Our measures are ready if necessary.''
