LEFKOSA - President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Saturday, ''Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadoupulos rejected our proposal envisaging opening of the Lefkosa International Airport and a part of he closed Maras to use of the both sides under the control of the United Nations.''
Hosting a breakfast in honor of guests, who came to TRNC to attend ceremonies to mark July 20 Peace and Freedom Day, President Denktas said, ''Papadoupulos rejected our proposal since he considered it complicated and untimely.''
Noting that they had put forward their good will proposals in order to narrow the gap between the two sides, President Denktas said that opening of the Lefkosa International Airport and a part of he closed Maras to use of the both sides could serve this target.
